Enough

Rediscovering the wonder in ordinary life.

This Week’s Reflection

Enough

Oh… there you are.

I’m glad you’re here.

Yesterday, I turned sixty.

I expected to spend the day thinking about time.

I found myself thinking about “enough.”

For years, I had been living as though enough existed somewhere in the future.

Better.

More.

Someday.

Now I wonder if enough was never waiting somewhere else.

Maybe it had been here all along.

Waiting for me to notice it.

My birthday began the way most mornings do.

The dogs were waiting at the door before the sun had fully risen.

With a hot cup of coffee in hand, I stood facing the morning light.

The day unfolded gently—a yoga class, time with my granddaughter, and dinner with the people I hold most dear.

Nothing extraordinary happened.

Somewhere along the way,

I realized I no longer needed it to.

For so long, I thought enough lived somewhere ahead of me.

Instead, I began to see it in the life I was already living.

The older I get, the more grateful I am for ordinary days that ask nothing of me except that I notice them.

I’m not sure enough is ever something we define.

But I do know this.

I’m beginning to recognize it.

This week’s invitation:

As you move through the week, simply notice:

Where does enough appear before you reach for more?

Maybe it’s in a conversation.

Maybe it’s that first cup of coffee.

Maybe it’s five minutes to yourself that you don’t need to become anything more.
