7 DIMENSIONS

Helen

Helen Barnard is a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor whose work is grounded in the belief that healing involves more than understanding our thoughts. It also asks us to listen to the body, the nervous system, and the stories we have carried about ourselves.

Before becoming a counselor, Helen spent 25 years in New York City’s magazine industry, building a career around creativity and visual storytelling. A move to a farmhouse in Connecticut marked the beginning of a very different chapter. She returned to school, earned her master’s degree in counseling, and began work that drew deeply from both her professional training and her own life experiences.

With advanced training in body-centered psychotherapy and somatic approaches, Helen works with people navigating addiction, anxiety, depression, identity, shame, and the patterns we develop to survive. At the heart of her work is compassion and a deep respect for the whole person.

As a co-founder of Seven Dimensions, Helen brings warmth, humor, honesty, and a willingness to talk about the parts of being human we often try hardest to hide. She reminds us that lasting change doesn’t come from becoming someone else, but from learning to meet ourselves more fully as we are.
